#YR’s Kyle is about to reach out to ex-wife Summer. But who’ll be playing Nick and Phyllis’ daughter… hmm?
The Young and the Restless sure knows how to get people talking. When the CBS soap released a spoiler for Thursday, Dec. 18, that said
Kyle was calling ex-wife Summer, fans of the daytime drama were thrilled to think that Nick and Phyllis’ Supergirl would be returning to Genoa City.

Mind you, there’s been no indication that we’ll even see Summer during her conversation with Kyle. (It could be shot one-way.) Still, the audience remained hopeful. “About time,” enthused one viewer on Reddit, adding their sympathy for the mess the character would be walking into. “I think there’s going to be major blowback with AI software and [Phyllis] stealing from Cane.”

Phyllis’ shenanigans may be the least of Summer’s concerns. Our hunch is that Kyle contacts his ex to see if she has any ideas about how to rein in her outta-control grandpa, Victor, who has used Jack’s attempt to safeguard Jabot into a new way to bury the company. (Read the recap.)

Though nobody puts The Mustache in a corner, Summer might still want to try. Her company, Marchetti, is after all under the Jabot umbrella. So by hurting Jabot, Victor is also hurting Marchetti and therefore Summer. Then again, all these people are so stinkin’ rich, we can’t figure out why they bother to work at all. Heck, Granddaddy Warbucks could just pull a new corporation out of the sofa cushions like it was loose change and give it to Summer like it was her allowance!

If Thursday’s episode is a precursor to Summer’s comeback, the question then becomes who will play the legacy character. It seems unlikely that it will be Allison Lanier, who upon exiting in May said that “it’s time to grow in a different direction.” We also doubt that we’d get back Hunter King, who is now up to her heart in Hallmark projects.
On Reddit, names bandied about include Sofia Mattsson (ex-Sasha, General Hospital) and Kim Matula (ex-Hope, Bold & Beautiful). But the former is likelier to return to her old soap, where a ton of storyline awaits her beleaguered alter ego, and the latter is currently taping Season 2 of The Hunting Wives. (More on that here.)
Nicola Peltz would make a great Summer, but she’s making it big on the big screen. (The heiress made her directorial debut with 2024’s moving Lola.) Perhaps Lili Reinhart (Betty, Riverdale)? Or Kristen Alderson (Starr, One Life to Live), who previously auditioned to play Summer?
