‘Yellowstone’s Rising Star Starts Deadly Affair With Sydney Sweeney in First ‘The Housemaid’ Trailer
Prepare yourself for an unhappy homecoming this holiday season with The Housemaid. The new trailer for the Sydney Sweeney-Amanda
Seyfried psychological thriller is out, and it promises all the domestic mayhem you could possibly want. The film is set to hit theaters on
December 19, 2025. In the new trailer, Millie (Sweeney, Euphoria) arrives at the lavish home of wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried, Mamma

Mia) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar, 1923) Winchester. She’s taking on the role of housemaid: It’s a live-in position, complete with a cozy little room in the attic that locks with a fancy little key.
The resulting domestic bliss unfolds to the strains of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” as everyone seems to have terrible secrets that will blow this arrangement apart. There’s a medicine cabinet full of prescription drugs, a spooky dollhouse, and a bloodied knife. But who’s the one with the dangerous secrets? Is it Millie, who’s desperate to keep her job? Or Andrew, who’s bonding with Millie in a way that seems unhealthy for his marriage? Or is it Nina, whose perfect Martha Stewart facade seems to crumble when she’s letting out blood-curdling screams and tossing dishes around? Readers of the BookTok-favorite novel by Freida McFadden might know the answers, but the rest of us will have to wait until December 19.

The Housemaid will arrive in theaters on December 19 as counter-programming for the likely biggest blockbuster of the season, if not the year, in the form of Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s the third installment in James Cameron’s eye-popping science-fiction franchise that has grossed over $5 billion USD to date. Also arriving on that date is the animated spin-off The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants and the Bradley Cooper dramedy Is This Thing On? The previous weekend will see James L. Brooks’ first film in 25 years, Ella McCay, make its debut, while the following week sees the Jack Black-Paul Rudd comedy remake of Anaconda, the Hugh Jackman-Kate Hudson musical Song Sung Blue, and the Timothée Chalamet ping-pong movie Marty Supreme all premiere on Christmas Day.
The Housemaid was directed by Paul Feig; primarily known as a comedy director, he recently proved his thriller bonafides with A Simple Favor and its sequel, Another Simple Favor. Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) adapted McFadden’s novel. In addition to Sweeney, Seyfried, and Sklenar, the film also stars Michele Morrone (365 Days) and Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds).
