‘Yellowstone’ co-creator Taylor Sheridan to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal in 2029, reports say

Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan will be leaving Paramount after signing a deal with NBCUniversal, according to media reports.

After the release of the TV hit “Yellowstone,” a Western about owner of the largest ranch in Montana working to protect his way of life,

Sheridan’s production company, 101 Studios, has stayed busy — releasing “Tulsa King,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Lioness” and “1923” shortly after, according to Variety.

News of the deal was first reported by Puck, an online news outlet. The details of the deal, struck by NBCUniversal’s entertainment chairman Donna Langley, was not immediately clear but Sheridan will be able to make movies for the company as well as television shows,

according to the New York Times, which cited sources close to the matter. However, Sheridan’s Paramount deal for television projects does not expire till the end of 2028, while the NBCUniversal deal will go into effect in early 2029, the New York Times article states.

In August, Sheridan announced he was partnering with Paramount to build the largest film and TV studio north of the Fort Worth area. The news broke as Texas tries to improve its incentive program to lure film, television, videogame and commercial production to the Lone Star State.
