The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) may be playing the long game when it comes to his Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) retaliation. Is Cane setting his new partner up for a huge fall?

Y&R viewers will recall that Phyllis lied repeatedly after she stole the AI program and handed it over to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

 

 

Phyllis feigned innocence for a long time instead of giving Cane the honesty he asked for, so he vowed to get payback.

Of course, a lot has changed since then – or so it seems!

Considering Y&R’s penchant for stories where someone is secretly manipulating someone else, could Cane still have vengeful Phyllis goals in mind?

After all, it was kind of bizarre watching Cane flip a switch and suddenly go all in with Phyllis as an ally.

There are good reasons to be skeptical of Cane’s attitude adjustment.

One minute Cane was yelling at Phyllis to stay away and the next he was telling her about this secret built-in AI program element that could cause chaos at Newman Enterprises.

It’s true that Cane was upset over Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) leaving town and his kids officially cutting ties with him.

However, part of Cane may blame Phyllis since she encouraged his Aristotle Dumas side.

Plus, Lily witnessed another kiss between Cane and Phyllis before her visit on New Year’s Eve.

Although Lily later got swept up in a kiss of her own with Cane, it wasn’t enough to stop her from pushing him away again and announcing that she was leaving Genoa City.

It’s possible Cane holds Phyllis responsible on some level for constantly making messes and destroying his progress with Lily along the way.

If that’s the case, then Phyllis has potentially walked straight into a major revenge trap.

Phyllis is finally getting what she’s been chasing, which is a big win along with bragging rights.

We’re hearing Phyllis insist this is what she’s wanted for so long, but what if Cane’s just going to yank it away in the end and force her to suffer a crushing blow?

Even Phyllis seemed a bit surprised over Cane including her in his plot since there’s no reason he has to.
