Coronation Street fans have been left hailing a ‘new duo’ after Sydney Martin was seen sharing an exciting ‘countdown’ to a major move for the long-running show.
The actress has spent just over a year playing Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, who fans know is the daughter of DS Lisa Swain, and it was revealed this week that she’s set to be involved in the programme’s upcoming crossover with Emmerdale.
Corriedale, the epic history-making episode set to rock both Weatherfield and Dales on one stormy night near Hotten and beyond. It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from both parts of the north at risk.
A full Corriedale cast list has revealed the rest of the names set to feature, including Sydney as Betsy. She was also seen at the premiere of Corriedale at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16), alongside her on-screen family, Vicky Myers (Lisa), Alison King (Carla Connor) and Amy Cudden (Becky Swain), who are all also confirmed to feature.
But as the countdown continues to the historic TV event, the team at Corriedale have on Friday (December 18) shared a special one off feature on YouTube that is sure to get soap viewers excited ahead of the unique crossover.
Countdown to Corriedale is described as a warm, nostalgic, and laughter-filled look back at the biggest moments from Coronation Street and Emmerdale, as stars from both soaps sit down together to relive the drama, the romance, and the jaw-dropping twists that have defined their shows.

In the 30-minute special, four pairs of cast members – one from Corrie and one from Emmerdale – settle into some of the most iconic sets from both series to watch and react to legendary moments from the archives.
This includes Sydney and Emmerdale star Bradley Riches, who fans will know for playing Lewis Barton. Sharing pictures of the pair reacting to scenes from Corrie and Emmerdale’s past, Sydney wrote on Instagram: “Catch us on countdown to Corriedale,” to which Bradley was quick to reply: “Besties.”
And fans were quick to respond. @x_lou87 said: “You two are iconic. Let’s get you on gogglebox immediately.” @klourud1 echoed: “Loved it. Gogglebox next?.” @eileen.hlzw commented: “New iconic duo unlocked for sure.” @itsglittertime76 replied: “The partnership we never knew we needed.”

And Bradley was seen enjoying his time over at the Trafford-based set, as he joined Sydney for filming at No.6 Coronation Street, her on-screen home. Alongside pictures from the day, including him sporting an ‘I [heart] Swarla’ tee, referring to Sydney’s on-screen mum, Lisa, and her partner Carla Connor, he wrote on his Instagram: “The duo you didn’t know you needed but now you need more of. WATCH COUNTDOWN TO CORRIEDALE ON YOUTUBE NOW.”
