Taylor Sheridan’s Small But Controversial Yellowstone Spinoff Title Change Explained By Star
The next Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone spinoff made a small but controversial change to its title, and Luke Grimes is finally clarifying what
prompted it. Over a year since Yellowstone wrapped up with five seasons on Paramount Network, and the universe is looking to continue with a string of new offshoots that take place in modern times.

The list includes the Michelle Pfeiffer-led show, The Madison, as well as flagship follow-ups that are spearheaded by John Dutton III’s surviving kids, Kayce and Beth. Among them, Grimes’ project is first out of the docket, as it is set to premiere as part of CBS’s 2025-2026 TV cycle. Starting March 1, 2026, it…
The Brave and the Bold is an upcoming feature film that will bring a new version of Batman into the DCU continuity established by DC Studios. Because the project is still in its very early stages of development, the role of the Dark Knight still has yet to be cast, though actor Brandon Sklenar believes he’s got a shot at possibly landing the part.
1923 star Sklenar, whose name has come up recently as a popular pick with fans for a potential casting choice for Batman, discussed the situation in a new interview with ScreenRant. He shared how he sees Batman as a dream role for him, naming the Dark Knight as the one character in the real of superheroes he’d love to portray more than any other. That had him pleasantly surprised when fans started suggesting him as the next incarnation of Bruce Wayne, and he made it clear he’d be very happy to take that role if given the opportunity.
“That’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid — and I’ve never even talked about it — It just started happening and I was like, ‘This is cool!’ And now, maybe, hopefully, it happens one day,” Sklenar said. “I’d love to do it. It’s literally a childhood dream to do something like that, specifically that character. If I [were] ever to do any type of thing in the superhero space, that’s what it would be.”

When asked if anyone has actually called him about possibly playing the part, he added, “Yeah. I think there’s some awareness of me on some level, probably. But yeah, I know they’re a ways away from doing that. But yeah, obviously, the little kid in me, and the adult me is, like, ‘This is cool!’ And I have a bunch of ideas. Anyway, it’d be cool.”
Sklenar is known in part for his role in the Yellowstone franchise as one of the stars of the prequel series 1923; though the show recently ended its 2-season run, Sklenar hinted that he could appear in an upcoming sequel series. The actor also appeared with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in the film It Ends With Us, and Lively, who has DC superhero movie experience herself as a Green Lantern star, has endorsed him for the role. Sklenar has also played Burt Reynolds in The Offer with his other film roles including The Big Ugly, Emily the Criminal, and Drop.
“I’m seeing this Batman chatter. I volunteer yourself as tribute,” Lively said to Sklenar last year on an Instagram post. “[James Gunn] knows how to give the people what they need. And this, they need.” Sklenar responded to the comment with emojis of a heart, a bat, and a smiley face.
Sklenar has also previously touched on his desire to portray Batman. He said on The Movie Podcast that it’s “secretly been my forever dream” to play the character. He added, “I started seeing all this fan art and was like, ‘Oh, damn, I like this. This kinda makes sense. It makes a lot of sense. I think I would crush that role and I’d love to do it if it ever happens. I’d love to do it.”
The DCU was launched with the animated series Creature Commandos, while Superman will mark the start of the live-action side of the new cinematic universe. Batman briefly appeared in Creature Commandos, so the character has already made his debut, but an actor has yet to be cast as the live-action version in the DCU. It would appear that Sklenar’s name might be in the hat, but he’s certainly not the only one gunning for the part, so there’s still no telling who will end up becoming Batman.
