Coronation Street fans have predicted that Megan Walsh could be leaving the cobbles soon after she was involved in a shocking bedroom scene. The newcomer to the ITV soap, played by Beth Nixon, is the athletics coach of Will Driscoll, and viewers have known for a while that she has been having a secret affair with the teenager.

In the latest episode of the world’s longest-running TV soap, Will celebrated his sixteenth birthday and he met his lover in the café, where he noted he was “finally legal now,” so he presented her with a hotel key card. Once there, she said: “Let’s go to bed, I love it when we’re alone. No-one will ever love you as much as I do.”

Back at the Rovers, Eva and Ben were worried about what may have happened to Will as he was not answering his phone. But Ronnie Bailey then appeared at the bar, where he told them that he had checked into fiancée Debbie’s hotel, and gave them the room number. Ben and his other son Ollie raced round there and battered on the door, just as Will and Megan were considering getting out of bed.

Megan hid in the bathroom, and Ollie and Ben demanded they come in. Ben managed to get it out of him that there was a girl in the bathroom, and assumed it was someone he used to date when they lived in Hull. Will’s dad and brother eventually left him to it, and Megan later wormed her way back into the family as she joined them for drinks at the pub later on.

All this time, however, she has been carving out a relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) as a coverup, and has even got a job alongside him at Weatherfield High to be closer to Will. Eva unintentionally made matters worse when she invited the pair of them round to the Rovers for Christmas Day.

As the risqué scenes took place, viewers instantly took to social media to share their reaction. One wrote: “Oh God that evil teacher Megan is going to take Will to bed [sick emoji],” and another said: “I seriously hate Megan she can f*** right off to prison.”

A third wrote: “Megan is now officially a sex offender. I guess they are not intending to keep her long term as I can’t see how she can stay now?” whilst a fourth, having watched the bedroom scene, simply joked: “Need age verification to watch this!”

Teasing what is to come, Beth, 25, who joined the Coronation Street cast in November, said: “Poor Will. Megan is the devil in disguise and we are going to really see how evil she is. “She will stop at nothing and she will do anything she wants to stay on top. “Everything she does is for a reason and it’s to serve herself and nobody else. You find yourself wanting to shout at the telly at her, because she is so evil.”

Viewers will see tension mount, as the Driscolls tuck into their turkey dinners. “Megan is spinning so many plates and it’s a ticking time bomb,” says Beth. “She has met Daniel and she uses him as a cover. She ramps the relationship up by kissing Daniel in front of Will in the Rovers. She is a lone wolf and there will be plenty more twists and turns. She keeps on plotting and plotting.”

Beth and her soap bosses have been working with Barnardo’s on the grooming storyline. She hopes that it will help any viewers facing a similar situation to realise they aren’t alone.

She explained: “I have done research on female paedophiles and it’s shocked me how prevalent grooming is. It’s completely wrong, but by working with Barnardo’s, we want people to know they aren’t alone. Even if it is just one person that maybe realises they are in a similar situation, we’ve done our job.”
