EastEnders has aired another exit for the Mitchell family after confirming a major change to Harry Mitchell’s story following last week’s upsetting scenes.

Last week, Harry’s dad Teddy was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Okie after confessing to the crime in order to protect his son, who killed him by accident.

Responding badly to the sentencing, Harry took drugs again and overdosed. Harry was taken to the hospital in a stable condition thanks to his mum Nicola, who had given him a life-saving injection.

In tonight’s episode, Billy and Honey supported Nicola, who is pregnant with George’s child, and Harry in the wake of recent events, with Honey making the pair some breakfast.

“Look, Teddy may not be here,” Honey said to Nicola. “But you are very much a part of this family, so I am not going to let you put your health or your baby’s at risk, am I?”

Speaking to Harry, Nicola said: “Hey, darling. You really scared me last week. I’ve moved some money around, and I’ve got you a place at that detox clinic the hospital was telling us about.”

She continued: “It’s last minute, so it’s only a couple of weeks, but they’ll help you get clean, yeah?”

An angry Harry said he didn’t deserve help after watching his dad go down for life, saying to Nicola: “You should have let me die.”

During a heart-to-heart, Penny encouraged Harry to attend the detox clinic, telling him: “You are strong enough to do this.”

Harry packed his bags and finally decided to seek treatment in the detox clinic, giving Kojo an emotional hug goodbye.

Fans needn’t worry, as this isn’t a permanent exit for Harry, who will be back on screen in a couple of weeks.

Following Teddy’s permanent exit from the soap, Nicola star Laura Doddington paid tribute to Roland Manookian, taking to social media to share her thoughts on the departure of her on-screen husband.

Posting some images of the pair to her Instagram along with some broken heart emojis, Doddington wrote: “I mean, this man!”
