Tragic Death of Former Home and Away Actress Jessica Falkholt in Car Crash
Former Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt died in hospital on January 17, 2018, from injuries sustained in a horrific head-on car collision on Boxing Day (December 26, 2017) on the NSW South Coast.
The 29-year-old actor, who played Hope Morrison on the soap, was pulled from the burning wreckage along with her 21-year-old sister, Annabelle, by heroic bystanders. Tragically, her parents, Lars (69) and Vivian (60), died at the scene, and Annabelle succumbed to her injuries in the hospital three days later.
Jessica Falkholt fought for her life for three weeks in a critical condition at St George Hospital before passing away.
The family’s car was struck by a four-wheel-drive that crossed into their path. The driver of the other vehicle, 50-year-old Craig Whitall, who was impaired by drugs and had an extensive driving history, also died in the crash.
Following the news of her passing, co-stars from Home and Away and others in the industry shared tributes, mourning the loss of the actress and her family. Falkholt had a promising career, with her feature film debut in the supernatural thriller Harmony set to be released posthumously. The tragic incident wiped out an entire family and horrified the Australian community.
