Ryan Paevey Teases His Imminent Return to General Hospital: ‘You Hear Anything?’

Fans of General Hospital were surprised when it was announced on August 18 that Ryan Paevey was returning to the soap for a “meaty

storyline” in September. Though the show was keeping some details under wraps, including whether or not he would be returning as

Nathan, the character he originally played from 2013-18. The actor is already back on set and shared a playful video in his Instagram Stories to tease his comeback personally.

“Hey guys.. Warm this week,” Paevey remarked casually as he walked around outside of a building. “You hear anything? Any news? You guys hear anything this week? Yeah, I didn’t hear anything, either.” As he continued striding around the parking lot, the General Hospital sign appeared in view, placing him outside the soap’s studio at Prospect Studios in Los Feliz, CA. “Nothing new to report, I don’t think,” he continued teasing. “If you hear anything, though, like… let me know, would ya? That’d be cool.”

Paevey became a soap star when he joined the cast of GH in 2013 as Detective Nathan West. His pairing with Kristen Storms’s Maxie Jones proved popular with fans, and the couple married and were about to welcome their son, James, when Nathan was tragically killed by his own father, the villainous Cesar Faison.

Before his 2018 exit from the soap, Paevey had already begun moonlighting in Hallmark movies like Unleashing Mr. Darcy and Harvest Love, as well as the Lifetime movie Locked In. After leaving the soap, the actor continued to appear in even more Hallmark films such as Hope at Christmas, A Summer Romance, and A Little Daytime Drama. His last was 2023’s Under the Christmas Sky, after which he announced that he was taking a break from acting.

However, on August 14, Paevey shared a video on Instagram where he included some footage from a recent fan event he attended and teased that he had some big news coming soon. Now that the news has been revealed to be his return to Port Charles after all these years, the only question remaining is whether he’s bringing Nathan back from the dead or if he’s playing an entirely new character.
