Coronation Street fans think they have ‘rumbled’ Lisa Swain’s worrying ‘fate’ after the actress who plays her made a comment teasing her involvement in the upcoming crossover with Emmerdale.

The hour-long special will air on January 5 at 8pm on ITV and ITVX to mark the launch of the network’s new ‘soap power hour’ scheduling pattern for the two shows, which will air in half-hour instalments every weeknight.

To mark the occasion, producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.

It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk. And while Lisa was confirmed as one of the first two characters to be involved, alongside Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), she hasn’t been an obvious feature in any of the trailers released so far.

But, appearing at the premiere of Corriedale, at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16), alongside her on-screen family, Sydney Martin (Betsy Swain), Alison King (Carla Connor) and Amy Cudden (Becky Swain), Vicky seems to have hinted that Lisa could be in peril.

@TheConnorSwains said: “Vicky ‘My character wouldn’t know what’s happening……’ Lisa is gonna be critically injured in that car and lose consciousness in front of Carla. The fire is spreading towards them. #Swarla #Corriedale #Corrie.” @swoosh286 replied: “Agreed! Can’t see any other reason why Lisa wouldn’t know what’s happening if she’s not unconscious!!”

@kerrym3101 wrote: “‘my character wouldn’t know what’s happening’ guys. lisa is sooo unconscious im so excited!!@swainsworld_ posted: “vicky saying her character wouldn’t know what’s happening… lisa is sooo gonna be unconscious and badly injured after the crash and possibly gonna be in coma in that hospital bed.”

However, @swarlascrisps added: “While Lisa may definitely be unconscious, I’m not entirely sure that’s what she meant (because that would be a spoiler). I think she just meant she wouldn’t know what’s happening because she isn’t part of those storylines #swarla.”

On Corriedale itself, which has brought the two universes together to launch ITV’s new ‘soap power hour’ scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale, Vicky shared with the Manchester Evening News: “It’s safe to say that, obviously, this is a history making, ground-breaking episode….”

While she couldn’t give too much away on her own involvement, Vicky continued: “It’s a chance for a lot of storylines to come to their conclusion and for a lot of new storylines to start branching out and that’s involving different characters and the end of lots of storylines.”
