Netflix’s ‘Yellowstone’ Replacement Just Got One Step Closer to Our Screens With a Major Season 2 Update
Netflix attempted to recreate the magic of Yellowstone earlier this year with Ransom Canyon, and while the show may not be as popular as
Taylor Sheridan’s hit Western, it was still a massive success for the streamer. The uncertain fate of Ransom Canyon hung in the balance for
several weeks after the show premiered all its episodes, but it finally scored a Season 2 renewal at the end of June. Three months later,

news just broke that Ransom Canyon Season 2 is now finally in production, with The Green Mile star Patricia Clarkson joining the cast in a guest role.

We are now closer than ever to Halloween 2025, and the devil’s favorite genre is dominating our watchlists. As the box office hosts some of the most exciting new horrors of the year, including the continued success of The Conjuring: Last Rites and new arrivals like Black Phone 2,

streaming sites also hone their smorgasbord of spine-chilling options. Thanks to this, several of the top streamers in the U.S. are seeing horrors rise through their ranks, with all-time classics and underrated gems becoming streaming hits.

On AMC+, this has led to one of the most underrated hidden horror gems of the year finding itself in the top ten, as, at the time of writing, Sean Byrne’s Dangerous Animals places 10th on the list. An unhinged, thrilling horror experience, Dangerous Animals is one of the best modern sharksploitation flicks and more than deserves its streaming success. Starring Jai Courtney, Yellowstone’s Hassie Harrison, and Josh Heuston, the movie first premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival before making a small splash at the U.S. box office back in June. However, released in over 1,000 theaters for just one weekend, the movie stumbled to a global haul of $5.3 million. For anyone yet to catch one of the best slashers of 2025, here’s a look at the synopsis:
For a film that was always destined to be compared with Jaws, Dangerous Animals has impressively managed to garner its own sparkling reputation as critics hailed it a success. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film earned a “certified fresh” 87% from critics and 74% from audiences, with the site’s consensus reading, “Stuffed to the gills with memorable shocks and a thrillingly unhinged heel turn by Jai Courtney, Dangerous Animals will be irresistible chum for horror aficionados.” For Collider, Nate Richard wrote in his review, “It might not be a future genre classic, but thanks to Courtney’s utmost commitment to his villainous role, you’ll be glad you dipped your toes in the water by the time the credits roll.”
