‘It Was A Shame’: ‘Yellowstone’ Star Kelly Reilly Breaks Silence On Alleged Kevin Costner, Taylor Sheridan Feud
“Yellowstone” star Kelly Reilly broke her silence on the chaotic ending of the series that allegedly created a big divide between creator Taylor Sheridan and Kevin Costner.
Reilly, who played Beth Dutton on the show, addressed the on-set conflict and the messy December 2024 conclusion of the hit series during an interview with The Times published Jan. 24.

Reilly referenced the interviewer’s recording device and said, “If it wasn’t recording, and we were just having a beer, I could share more. But yes, it was only supposed to go on for five years … It was successful … A life of its own …” she said, seemingly struggling to find the right words.

“I’m just picking my words, because I’ve never really talked about it,” Reilly admitted.
She continued, “A lot went on behind the scenes that had nothing to do with me; I was just waiting. ‘When are we going back to work?’ It was a shame it ended that way, but it did.”

Costner and Paramount didn’t see eye-to-eye about the series’ production, according to a Deadline interview with Costner.
Rumors accused Costner of prioritizing his other film series, “Horizon,” ahead of “Yellowstone,” but the actor insisted Paramount was to blame for issuing a rigid schedule that boxed him out.
The legendary actor accused the show of veering off the path he had agreed upon in their original contracts, and he claimed an entire season he committed to was shut down.

Ongoing legal issues were added to the public disagreement, ultimately resulting in Costner’s departure, and it changed the course of the overall production. (RELATED: Neal McDonough Claims Hollywood Blacklisted Him For Refusing Mildly Suggestive Scene)

When asked if she stayed in touch with Costner, Reilly told The Times, “We sent messages, but I mean, it’s Kevin Costner! We move in very different circles.”
