Every Upcoming Yellowstone Project Explained (1944, The Madison & Beyond)
The Yellowstone franchise began with the iconic TV show in 2018. Five seasons later, the show’s success has inspired many spin-offs. So
far, the 1883 and 1923 prequels have been released, with excited reactions from the fandom. These shows follow the beginnings of the
Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and the tragedy that has always befallen the Dutton family as they fight to protect their land.
Following the conclusion of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan and Paramount have collaborated to expand the concept known as the Sheridanverse. There are five spin-offs officially being developed, with 1944 continuing the prequel timeline, The Madison adding a new family to the Montana conflict, and three shows following the characters from Yellowstone after the events from the last episode. The Yellowstone franchise promises to be the most extensive and popular neo-Western project of all time.
After the ending of Yellowstone, Paramount announced that another spin-off from the franchise was on its way. Initially named 2024, the show eventually changed its name to The Madison. Unlike the other TV series in this universe, The Madison will be the first sequel to the original show, and it will also be the first series not directly associated with the Duttons, which makes it an interesting take on the Taylor Sheridan Universe and, hopefully, will frame neo-Western through another lens. However, fans can still expect the Duttons to make an appearance, given the impact of the family in the ranching world of Montana. The Madison will be set in Montana, but it will follow the McIntosh family, who move from New York City to the Madison River valley (which obviously explains the title of the show). Taylor Sheridan described the story as “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection,” which is very much the axis of every Yellowstone show. However, it will obviously be different, as this family doesn’t have a century-old legacy in the cowboy business, so it is likely they will see the characters adapt to a new lifestyle.
There are several cast members officially announced for The Madison: Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, and Beau Garrett will have some of the most protagonic roles. At first, rumors circulated about Matthew McConaughey joining the cast, but so far, it doesn’t seem like the actor will be a part of The Madison. Michelle Pfeiffer, on the other hand, is already confirmed to lead the series, and she is also part of the project as an executive producer. Although there is a lot of information about this Yellowstone spin-off, no announcement has confirmed the release date.
