Emmerdale to revisit forgotten Bear storyline as Paddy makes a terrifying discovery
Emmerdale’s Paddy Dingle grows concerned for his dad’s whereabouts next week, as a shock discovery threatens to change everything. Bear left the village three months ago to stay with friends in Ireland – although viewers know that he never got there.
Now it’s Paddy’s turn to find out that Bear could be in real trouble, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the storyline.

“Bear and Paddy didn’t leave on great terms,” begins our Emmerdale insider. “Bear’s erratic behaviour was worrying everybody, so he decided it was best he get away for a while.
“Paddy learns Bear lied about where he went, and he has no idea where he is. What’s happened to him?”
Bear was angry with Paddy after he suggested he may have dementia, and after harsh words were exchanged, Bear said he was going to stay with some old wrestling pals in Ireland. But viewers know his plans fell through, and he left with nowhere to go.
Alarm bells begin to ring for Paddy when he receives a package addressed to his father. With Bear still absent, Paddy opens it – and the contents reveal his father never made it to the emerald isle.
Ringing round his dad’s contacts, none of whom can shed any light on the mystery, Paddy realises his dad has vanished…
“The more he looks into this, the worse it gets,” our source continues. “Paddy gave Bear the space he needed and assumed he’d be back before long. When Bear fails to get in touch on granddaughter Eve’s birthday, Paddy really starts to panic.”
Deciding it’s time to tell the police his dad is missing, Paddy prays Bear will be found soon – is he in some sort of trouble?
Show bosses announced several months ago that Bear will take centre stage in a major storyline.
“The character of Bear, we’ve got a big storyline coming up for him,” producer Laura Shaw said back in May.
“He’s going to go off screen for a little while, he’s going to go missing. And when he comes back, what you’ll see is a very different Bear in a really different situation.
“We’re all going to be watching and going, ‘What the hell has happened here?’ That’s going to be really exciting.”
More recently, Emmerdale has confirmed a special episode airing next month, exploring the 100 missing days of Bear’s life and where he’s been.
