When Jaye Griffiths was announced for Emmerdale, we knew that her character Celia Daniels was set to be an antagonistic character, with pre-debut spoilers revealing her dog’s attack on Paddy Kirk and her taking advantage of Moira Dingle’s financial struggles.

But now it’s been revealed that Celia is the puppeteer behind Ray Walters and the County Lines drug dealing operation that April Windsor has found herself involved in.

 

 

And this revelation is just the start, as Celia is set to get even worse in future episodes.

Appearing on Loose Women, Griffiths talked with the panel and watched a clip of Celia threatening Ray.

“That’s not even the worst thing she does, especially to him,” she said. “It’s gonna get worse.”

 

 

She also stated that the public have been quite nice to her about Celia so far, although she expects that to change following her character’s slap on teenager April.

Despite Celia being such a nasty piece of work, Griffiths has stated that she’s having such a good time playing her.

“I love her,” she said. “It’s so great, you just let go of any conscience, any empathy and just turn it all off. There’s no… doesn’t care.

“It’s so liberating.”

 

 

She also touched on the chemistry test she had to do with Paddy actor Dominic Brunt as part of her audition, and had nothing but praise for her co-star.

“I had to do a screen test with him, they made up a scene for four and a half minutes, which is a very long time, in his lunch hour, and him playing opposite me,” she said.

“He gave me all of his hour, and made me feel immense. Learnt all the lines backwards. He never once rolled his eyes or had a sigh, this is him giving up his time.”
