Emmerdale star confirms Paddy’s future after dramatic killer twist

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has confirmed his future on the ITV1 soap after the flashback week, which just aired, featured some major plot twists for his character Paddy Dingle, including a killer reveal.

Paddy was one of the suspects in the ‘who killed Ray Walters’ storyline, with the soap setting up that he might want to seek revenge for how Ray and Celia Daniels forced Paddy’s dad Bear Wolf into slavery.

In the end, it turned out that Bear himself was responsible for killing Ray, doing so right in front of Paddy’s eyes.

Viewers need not worry though – it’s not leading up to an exit storyline for the fan-favourite character, as Brunt has confirmed that he’s signed a contract for another year.

“I think I’ve been so lucky for so long,” said the actor, who has been on Emmerdale since 1997 (via The Mirror).

“If they told me I was going I would be sad, but I’ve got to be grateful for everything. It completely changed my life. Hopefully I’ll be here for another 29 years.”

Speaking about the scenes in which Paddy witnessed Bear kill Ray, Brunt admitted that he wasn’t sure how it could be done in a way that airs on TV before 9pm and gets away with it.

“It was dark, I wondered how they were going to film it for pre-watershed,” he said.

“I think in real life, I’d probably ring the police straight away, but [Paddy is] protecting his dad [by lying]. I was just excited to be a part of it.”

He also said filming the scenes was “very confusing” due to the non-linear nature of the storytelling, but added that “when it’s all been put together, it all makes sense”.
