Kev arrived in the village in September and shocked everyone when it was revealed he was Rob’s estranged husband, with the pair getting married in prison.

This caused ongoing tensions after his arrival when he discovered Rob and Aaron had secretly reunited behind his back.

Drama built until he confronted them at their flat with the samurai sword he’d stolen in a recent robbery, vowing to get back at the couple, and injuring Robert in the attack.

The clip features a voiceover of Rob saying: “Kev’s the past. He’s not in our lives anymore. Honestly, he’s gone for good”. Meanwhile, we see bushes set on fire and a mysterious bullet placed on a table. As someone walks through the trees we see Kev spying on them, ominously staring from a distance.

Whatever Kev’s reasons for being back, we can be sure he doesn’t have good intentions. Kev actor Chris Coghill previously opened up on playing the villain and warned that his character is “unhinged”.

“He’s an incredibly dangerous person. Kev wouldn’t have any qualms about physically attacking anybody, apart from possibly Robert… People thought, here’s another baddie – but he isn’t. He’s a criminal, and he’s got psychopathic tendencies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kev isn’t the only baddie set to return as John Sugden is among the cast confirmed for the Emmerdale and Coronation Street crossover, Corriedale.

Set to air on Monday 5 January, the special episode sees the two iconic ITV soaps merge for the first time ever, marking a historic moment.

“Corriedale is just the start of the drama as the aftermath of the crash gives rise to fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, closely-guarded secrets and lies,” reads the synopsis for the crossover. “Life in Emmerdale and Weatherfield will never be the same again!”
