The BBC had a major blunder earlier this week as EastEnders was accidentally streamed on one of the broadcaster’s social media channels, with the error drawing amusement from several fans.

Most episodes of the soap are released on BBC iPlayer at 6am from Monday to Thursday, with the same instalment then airing on BBC One in the evening for those who prefer to catch it live.

 

 

On Wednesday (24 September), fans had a third option to view the soap for a brief period of time, with the episode accidentally being streamed on the BBC Breaking News social media accounts.

At one point, as Kat and Zoe continued their reunion with a conversation in the Slater household, nearly 38,000 people were watching the stream. The problem persisted for minutes, with the scene changing before the stream was fixed.

 

 

“BBC Breaking News live streaming EastEnders for twitter is so funny,” wrote one user on X, with another quipping: “We will all remember where we were when the BBC Breaking News page accidentally live-streamed ten minutes of EastEnders.”

“Obsessed with bbc breaking news accidentally live streaming EastEnders,” joked another viewer, with one other fan writing: “bbc breaking news live streaming EastEnders this country is so back.”

 

 

While fans had a chuckle at the blunder, the soap has continued to deliver drama this week, with the latest episode seeing Peter Beale outline his plan to have a shock wedding ceremony with Lauren Branning.

It may not be a wise move, however, with Lauren appearing to be indecisive in next week’s scenes as she is taken by complete surprise. With their relationship having some recent difficulties, will this be a glorious day?

“Lauren is left reeling when she discovers Peter’s plan,” our insider continues. “The pub’s all decked out and Peter’s suited and booted. Can she really say no and humiliate him when he’s gone to so much effort?”
