EastEnders star teases Ross and Vicki reunion in dramatic Joel aftermath

EastEnders star Alex Walkinshaw has teased that his character Ross Marshall could reunite with his partner Vicki Fowler in upcoming

scenes, following their dramatic split last month. The important misogyny storyline involving Ross’s teenage son Joel came to a climax when he brutally attacked his stepmum Vicki.

Vicki was rushed to hospital and, as she came to terms with her traumatic ordeal, she was angry that Ross had covered up his son’s behaviour so ended their relationship.

Joel was arrested for the attack and is currently being held in a detention centre, but things haven’t been easy in Walford for Ross, who is temporarily living with Ian, Kathy and Harvey after hitting rock bottom.

But Alex, who plays Ross, has told us that there could be hope for Ross and Vicki, despite being torn apart by Joel’s destructive actions.

“I think they are genuinely in love with each other,” he said. “Joel has put an impossible strain on their relationship, and it’s whether they can navigate their way through the damage and the chaos that he has caused.”

Ross turned a blind eye to his son’s disturbing behaviour until it was too late, but Alex explained how his character was out of his depth as a parent – which is why this story was vital to tell on screen.

“He’s not technically savvy, he’s not a social media person, so Joel’s behaviour is all alien to him,” Alex told us. “He’s not aware of the pressure, the repetitive nature or the bombardment that people get from whatever they choose to look at online.”

While Ross’s future in Walford currently looks uncertain, Alex is keen to stick around on the show and he has some ideas about what his alter ego could get up to next.

“He lives on a great big square full of homeowners and there’s a few quid floating round the place,” he laughed. “You’ve only got to tap up Ian Beale for a bit of work, so as a builder, Ross could be involved. I’d love to be around for a while!”
