Drama Alert: Charlotte Jordan Quits Rival Soap After Only Three Months — Bosses Scramble to Find Replacement
Former Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan has quit rival soap The Archers after receiving a better job offer.
The actress, 31, announced she was leaving the cobbles in January after four years playing barmaid Daisy Midgeley.
After departing the soap in May, it was announced a month later that Charlotte would play Amber Gordon in the BBC Radio 4 show.
But bosses had to recast at the last minute after the actress accepted a role in the new BBC period drama The Hairdresser Mysteries.
The actress was replaced by Olivia Bernstone in October.
Of her abrupt departure, a source told The Sun: ‘Charlotte was very excited to join The Archers but when she landed a new TV role she couldn’t do both.

‘Sadly she had to bow out forcing bosses to recast at the last minute.
‘She’s looking forward to return to screens in the new year and has been busy filming the new show.’
Daily Mail has contacted Charlotte’s representatives for comment.
Charlotte will star alongside Sally Phillips, who plays the lead in the six-part show, and Charlotte Hope.
The programme has been described as a ‘nostalgic nod to the 70s’.
The BBC synopsis for the show reads: ‘Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she is at the hub of her new village’s secrets and revelations, and with her own brand of uncannily highly developed, hairdressing intuitive empathy and understanding, solves the village mysteries’.
During her time on Coronation Street, Charlotte was part of a number of hard-hitting storylines, including being stalked and facing a horrific acid attack on her wedding day, for which she won a British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2023.

She said at the time of her departure: ‘My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
‘It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.’
Recalling filming her final scenes, Charlotte joked she cried so much on her last day she was ‘medically dehydrated’ and gushed that the crew of Corrie ‘made it so special for me’.
She confessed: ‘I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight.
‘My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone. As soon as they yelled our final “cut,” we both burst into tears. Typical.’The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry.
‘I would look over to Channique or Julia or Sal during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.’
She went on: ‘It’s a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever.’
