Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Tyler Joseph Andrews Steps Into Salem as the New Theo Carver On DOOL
After months of anticipation, Tyler Joseph Andrews has officially made his Days of Our Lives debut as Theo Carver in the September 9
episode. Though fans are only just meeting him on-screen, Andrews has been quietly working behind the scenes for nearly a year, getting ready to step into one of Salem’s most storied families.
Interestingly, Andrews originally auditioned for another role — Tate Black — before being called back and eventually cast as Theo. “I didn’t even know I was going to be playing Theo until I booked the role,” he admitted. Now, Theo’s return to Salem brings him back a little older, a little wiser, and searching for meaning after his split from Claire Brady. “He’s coming back sort of lost,” Andrews teased, “but he’s trying to find himself and secure his future in Salem.”
While Theo proudly carries the Carver name, his late mother, Lexie, was a DiMera — the daughter of the infamous Stefano. This opens the door to rich storytelling, and Andrews is thrilled to dive into that complicated legacy. “I really love exploring the DiMera side because I get to work with actors like Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera),” he explained. “Just watching him work is like an acting class. The DiMeras bring out a different energy in Theo, and I think as he gets more involved with them, he may pick up some of those trademark DiMera traits.”
But will Theo embrace his darker side? Or will Abe Carver, played by longtime DAYS legend James Reynolds, keep his son grounded? Off-screen, Andrews couldn’t be more grateful for the bond he’s formed with Reynolds. “Jim has really become one of my best friends here,” Andrews shared. “He’s full of wisdom, and just watching him on set teaches you so much. Plus, he’s always ready to share stories about the show’s history. It’s been incredible to learn from him.”
Theo’s reintroduction promises plenty of drama as the character reconnects with family and possibly clashes with his DiMera relatives. For Andrews, it’s the start of what could be a pivotal chapter not only for Theo but for the Carver and DiMera families as a whole. And with Salem being Salem, fans know that means love, betrayal, and maybe even a power struggle or two.
