Days of Our Lives Brings the Baby Story to a Dramatic, Emotional Conclusion — and Says Farewell to Sophia!
And that is all Days of Our Lives wrote for the Sophia and Tate baby story! After months of lies and deception, the truth is out about the
baby, Tesoro, Tate’s paternity and Sophia’s attempts at revenge. The teen has been caught and everything exposed! Well, maybe it’s not
quite all they wrote for the story, since we still have to find out what’s happening with Aaron and which family Tesoro ends up with, but it certainly looks like Sophia’s role in the tale is coming to an end.

Monday’s episode ended with Sophia having a psychological break, which, Sarah explained to Amy, has given her “selective mutism.” Physically, Sophia’s fine, but she had a breakdown when everyone surrounded her demanding answers and mentally is just… gone. She doesn’t speak, she doesn’t react, she doesn’t seem to be aware of anything any more.

And any hopes that she’d pull out of this on her own were dashed as the week went on. After Marlena told Sarah that Sophia would need inpatient treatment, the doctor broke the news to Amy on Thursday. And after some convincing, Amy agreed that the best thing for her daughter would be a stay in Bayview for treatment.

She said goodbye to Sophia in a heartbreaking moment, full of regret over how Amy treated her. It earned a single tear from Sophia — along with a violent flinch at her mother’s touch. While some viewers have been speculating that Sophia’s faking it all to stay out of trouble, if Marlena and psych doctors agree this is real, it probably is.
And in that case, this is likely the last we’ll see of Sophia, at least for a little while. Stints in Bayview usually mean the characters being sent offscreen while they’re treated. Sometimes they come back all better, but other times they don’t.
It’s tough to say what will happen with Sophia, but one thing she does have on her side is that Tesoro will still be in Salem. (And presumably, the rest of Sophia’s family, though we’ve yet to meet her mysterious father and brother!)
If this is the end of Sophia, it was a surprisingly emotional one. We’ve witnessed her becoming increasingly manipulative, dark and villainous, but in the end, Days of Our Lives reminded us that she’s still a scared, traumatized teen, who got in way over her head. If Sophia does go away and come back, hopefully she’ll have gotten the help and the healing that she needs.
