CORRIE BLIMEY! I’m an extra in Coronation Street this month and met the cast behind the scenes – two actors showed their true colours

A CORONATION Street extra has revealed what some of the stars of the ITV soap are really like backstage.

One background artist has written about their experience filming for an upcoming episode that will see a host of characters go on a night out to the gay village in Manchester.

James Cartwright as Theo Silverton in Coronation Street.

James Cartwright is nothing like his violent abuser character Theo, says the extra

Jodie Prenger, Coronation Street actress, in patterned top and black pants.
And Jodie Prenger was singled out for her kind and welcoming behaviour to the extras
And they have told which actors made an impression by showing their true colours during the filming days.

“I was an extra for an upcoming episode,” the extra wrote on Reddit.

“Gang head out to canal street for a drag queen show. Todd, Theo, James, Sean, Glinda, Mary & Christina. Theo up to his usual nasty tricks with Todd!

“There was about 50 extras on the set as it was a night club scene so there was probably too many of us across the 2 day shoot for the cast to really mingle but they very much kept separate from the extras.

“The guy who play Theo is actually really nice and friendly, he was chatting to the extras between takes, starting conversations and just generally a really nice guy.

“It was really interesting watching his switch on the nasty Theo for the takes!”

They added: “The woman who played Glenda was also really friendly with the extras, the rest of the cast kept to themselves and didn’t speak to any of the extras.

“The crew were fantastic though, so interesting to see how it all works behind the scenes!

Episode expected to air around October!”

And while James Cartwright and Jodie Prenger were singled out for their kind behaviour towards the extras, the poster revealed it was hard slog for the two days.

“It was 2 full days 8AM – 6PM (and that after hair/makeup/costume) so it was pretty full on and at the end of the day, they’re just at work,” they said.

“Must admit though the lady who plays Mary did come across a bit shy/reserved.

“As extras, we’re told we’re not allowed to approach the cast so it’s a case of speak when spoken to, I think they must have had issues in the past.

“None of them were rude though, just kept to themselves which is fine they’re just at work, getting the head down and the more chatty ones where chatting.”
