Coronation Street to introduce new character – as suspicious Shona follows Jodie
Coronation Street will introduce a new character next week, as Jodie Ramsey continues to manipulate the Platts. When Shona decides to follow her secretive sister, she is faced with a blast from the past.
Viewers know that Jodie has been lying to Shona ever since her arrival in Weatherfield. After blaming Shona for abandoning her with their controlling father, she then made up a story about an abusive partner – who she claimed to be fleeing from during the Corriedale crash.

In last night’s episode, Jodie’s lies almost caught up with her when Shona tried to get in touch with their dad Doug. The newcomer clearly knew more than she was letting on about Doug as she tried to derail Shona’s investigation.
However, in next week’s scenes, Shona finally notices Jodie’s increasingly suspicious behaviour and becomes convinced that she is hiding something. She follows her sister to a psychiatric hospital, where she discovers their confused, estranged dad (played by Emmerdale’s Steve Evets).
At the hospital, Jodie tearfully explains how she was left to care for Doug as a youngster, after her mother fled. The revelation makes Shona feel even more guilty about leaving home, and she assures Jodie that she’s part of her family now.
Back at the house, an exhausted Shona loses her patience with Lily when the teen excitedly goes on about a limited edition water bottle. Her snappy mood reinforces Jodie’s previous lies to Lily about Shona loving baby Harper more.
Later, Shona shares her plans to visit Doug, but manipulative Jodie suggests they go on night out instead. Pleased to be making up for lost time, Shona agrees to a girls’ night.
At the Bistro, Jodie flirts with Carl Webster before furious Shona spots them. Unaware that the pair are having a secret fling, Shona tells Carl to back off and Jodie puts on the waterworks.
As the evening continues, Jodie sneakily plies Shona with alcohol and then calls David to help carry his drunken wife home. But why is she causing chaos for her new family?
