Coronation Street star explains Jodie’s vicious new David and Shona scheme
Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has detailed mindset of her character, Jodie Ramsey, as she takes long-lost half-sister Shona Platt on a night out. She gets Shona to drink heavily, all with the aim of driving a wedge between her and David.

With Jodie’s latest move being made with the intention of causing angst in Shona and David’s marriage, Brown explained that Jodie’s malicious schemes are born out of her long-held desire to feel loved.
“She wants to put Shona out of the picture, even if for a few hours, so she can step into her shoes,” said the actor. “There’s a moment where Shona is fast asleep, and Jodie watches a film with David. She wants to feel that closeness and validation that Shona gets every day.”
Jodie’s feelings of inadequacy lead her to feel “total resentment” towards her half-sister, with this dynamic stemming from a childhood where Jodie felt that Shona had abandoned her in search of a better life.
“Seeing Shona with the house, the husband and the family – everything Jodie ever dreamt of – is hard for her,” explained Brown. “She blames Shona for the fact that she doesn’t have those things too.”
While Jodie hasn’t exactly showed off her best side yet, Brown remarked that she was very much enjoying her time on the soap, sharing: “I completely understand why people stay here for as long as they can – it’s such a great place to work.
“It’s so much more fun than playing a one-dimensional character. Jodie has so many layers and different sides to her personality. It makes the work exciting because I never know what I’m going to read when I open a new script!”
h as part of the Corriedale crossover episode, and has since attempted to ruin Shona’s life upon her arrival in Weatherfield. While her family doesn’t know her true intentions, it’s becoming palpably clear to viewers.
