Coronation Street’s Sally Carman-Duttine goes all out as she reveals Christmas plans with co-star husband

Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has opened up about her plans for the festive season as she prepares to celebrate alongside her co-star husband.

Those who follow the ITV soap best know the actress for playing Abi Webster in Weatherfield, having made her debut in the long-running show, which recently celebrated its 65th anniversary, back in 2017.

Away from Weatherfield, Sally often keeps her private life just that, but she does sometimes shares updates on life with fellow soap star Joe Duttine. Many fans will already know that actor plays Tim Metcalfe, making his debut several years before his now-wife in 2013.

Joe and Sally met on the cobbles when she joined several years ago, after not working together, despite both appearing in Channel 4 drama, Shameless. They are thought to have started their relationship in the summer of 2018 and moved into a new home together at the end of 2019.

They then tied the knot in July 2022 with the pair saying ‘I Do’ two years after getting engaged. Sally confirmed the happy news with an image posted to her Instagram account which she captioned: “We did.” Back in July, Sally shared that they have marked their third wedding anniversary, and revealed the sweet gift she received to mark the occasion by her hubby.

Sharing pictures on Instagram, the soap star explained: “My lovely husband @johnny_duttine_ bought me a beautifully carved butterfly handcrafted by the artist / woodcarver @nickwoodcarver to mark our third Anniversary. We love his work and just wanted to give you guys the opportunity to love him too! #handcrafted #smallbusiness #specialgift #notanad.”

Now, the soap star has been opening up about how they’ll be spending Christmas this year, with Sally a self-confessed fan of the festive season. “My husband and I (who you might know as Tim Metcalfe from Coronation Street!) will be spending it in Scotland,” she revealed. “We are going for a few days, staying in a very lovely, Christmassy hotel.”

And she doesn’t shy away from decorating ahead of time. “I have an ice land/winter wonderland display, a wonderland forest display and a very camp pink reindeer corner with big snowballs and pink reindeers,” Sally shared. “We have three seven-foot Christmas trees in the house – and eight trees in total!”

But there is one thing you won’t catch her doing as Christmas draws to a close. “I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions – I don’t know why!” Sally revealed. “But I do always try to sort of just start fresh and get a good mindset, which generally consists of: look after yourself and be kind.”
