* William Jackson Harper (The Good Place) will star alongside Jon Hamm and Mirielle Enos in MGM+’s American Hostage, playing a respected journalist named Ben Hairston, Deadline reports. The eight-episode psychological thriller, based on the podcast of the same name, chronicles the true story of a 1970s Indianapolis reporter who is forced to interview a hostage taker live on the radio.

* Apple TV+’s Cape Fear series, based on the 1957 John D. MacDonald novel The Executioners, has added three to its cast: Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy), Ted Levine (Monk) and Margarita Levieva (Daredevil: Born Again) will all recur in key roles, Deadline reports.

* Luke Tennie (Shrinking) will recur in Season 5 of ABC’s Abbott Elementary, according to Deadline, playing a new teacher named Dominic. He’ll make his debut in the premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 1 (8:30/7:30c).
