Former Paramount co-CEO Chris McCarthy has found his next gig and it includes some familiar faces.
McCarthy is talks for a deal at NBCUniversal to produce “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan‘s upcoming series and consult on the new relationship between Sheridan, David Glasser’s 101 Studios and NBCU, following Sheridan’s own move from his former home at Paramount, according to sources close to the situation.
The longtime chief of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, McCarthy has had a close working relationship with “Landman” and “Yellowstone” creator Sheridan throughout his deal with Paramount.
Per Bloomberg, which first reported the news, “While Sheridan’s current deal with Paramount doesn’t allow him to make TV shows for NBCUniversal until 2029, McCarthy and 101, led by David Glasser, will start producing next year to prime the audience on NBC and Peacock for Sheridan.”
Representatives for NBCUniversal and 101 Studios did not immediately respond to request for comment.
McCarthy exited Paramount over the summer, ahead of the company’s acquisition by Skydance.
At the time, McCarthy was head of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, as well as co-CEO of Paramount Global, a position he took on in April 2024 alongside George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS, and Brian Robbins, president and CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. That came after Paramount ousted former CEO Bob Bakish.
Cheeks has remained at the head of CBS following the Skydance merger, while Robbins departed the company. Now called Paramount Skydance Corp., the company is led by Skydance owner David Ellison, the CEO, and former NBCU CEO Jeff Shell, who acts as president.
