BREAKING NEWS: Home and Away Star Julian McMahon Dies at 56 After Private Cancer Battle
Julian McMahon, the Australian actor who launched his career on the soap opera Home and Away before achieving global fame in hit series like Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has died at the age of 56.
His wife, Kelly Paniagua, confirmed the devastating news on Friday, stating that McMahon died peacefully in Clearwater, Florida, on Wednesday after a valiant effort to overcome a battle with cancer that had not been publicly disclosed.
McMahon, who was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Sir William “Billy” McMahon, began his acting journey in 1990 with a role on Home and Away, appearing in 150 episodes. He later became renowned for playing Dr. Christian Troy in the Golden Globe-nominated series Nip/Tuck and the half-demon Cole Turner in Charmed. He also starred as Jess LaCroix in the CBS drama FBI: Most Wanted and portrayed Doctor Doom in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four films.
In her statement confirming his passing, Paniagua said: “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans.”

Dick Wolf, the producer of FBI: Most Wanted, where McMahon starred for three seasons, called the news “shocking” and offered condolences to the family. Australian film director Stephan Elliott, who worked with McMahon on Swinging Safari, recalled his charisma and fearlessness, stating that the actor left everyone “crying with laughter” on set.
