Bold & Beautiful’s Rebecca Budig talks about Ridge and Taylor’s past, present… and future?

The shock of Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub hasn’t faded, and reports are blaming the decision on his much-younger girlfriend.

The veteran coach has been in a long-running age gap relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, and their romance made headlines several times in the last year for controversial reasons.

Beyond the optics of the romance, Jordon Hudson’s typical behavior of clapping back at critics reportedly worsened the situation despite pleas from a high-profile former NFL player.

Bill Belichick’s omission from the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class came as a major surprise to many, particularly given his trophy-laden NFL career.

Since the decision, speculation has been rife over what may have influenced the outcome, with the latest theory shifting focus away from on-field controversies and toward his personal life instead.

Sources who spoke to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop claimed that the veteran coach’s relationship with Hudson became a talking point during Hall of Fame voting discussions.

According to those accounts, several voters were uncomfortable with the level of controversy surrounding the age-gap relationship and felt they could not, in good conscience, support Belichick’s candidacy as a result.

“This wasn’t whispered — it was discussed,” an insider said of Belichick and Hudson’s romance. “People kept asking, ‘Do we really want this to be part of his legacy right now?’ The word ‘creepy’ came up more than once.”

Belichick only became eligible for a spot on the Hall of Fame after leaving the NFL to coach college football at the University of Carolina.

By that point, Belichick had already been linked to Hudson, but the relationship only began to attract significant attention within football circles following their widely criticized CBS appearance last April, which led to reports suggesting Hudson had some involvement in the football side of his life.

Although Belichick has since denied claims that Hudson plays any role in his professional career beyond handling personal matters, the optics of the relationship, particularly its increasingly public nature, are said to have been another stumbling block that ultimately contributed to the Hall of Fame snub.

“The timing killed him,” another insider shared. “If this had surfaced years after his induction, no one would care. But voters vote on legacy, not just stats.”

During last season’s college football campaign, Hudson was seen on multiple occasions at Kenan Memorial Stadium, where UNC plays.

On these days, she typically would head out to the field before game time, a move that rubbed off wrongly on fans and journalists alike.

Belichick, at some point during the season, was also spotted attending a cheerleading event for Hudson, which placed further in the public eye a relationship many already found weird.

As a result, some observers felt that fully endorsing Belichick for the Hall of Fame at that moment could have risked damaging the image of the sport.

“It started to feel inappropriate to people,” an insider shared. “Not illegal. Not immoral. But deeply uncomfortable. And voters see themselves as guardians of the game’s image.”

It also didn’t help that when Hudson and Belichick were hit with criticism from different quarters last year, the cheerleader took it upon herself to hit back, sometimes in a very controversial manner.

“That made it worse,” an insider said of Hudson’s antics. “It reinforced the sense that this was becoming a sideshow.”
