“I would love to get into Carter’s family life — like why is he the way he is?” he tells Soaps.com. “He’s a very interesting character to me [because he] presents himself as so good and so earnest and so perfect, but then when he’s in these relationships, it almost looks like he’s trying too hard.

Saint-Victor has even seen hints that Carter’s upbringing wasn’t picture-perfect. His brother Marcus, he reminds, came to L.A. to find his biological parents (Donna and Justin). “It was like there was something that he was getting away from,” the actor suggests, “so I feel like there’s something in their home life that was incredibly toxic and, for one son, made him flee to find his ‘real family’ and, for the other son, it just made him type to think, ‘If I get straight A’s, if I get my law degree, if I can do this or that, then maybe I’ll deserve love or deserve happiness.
