BBC EastEnders actor Aaron Thiara praises co-star as Ravi plot ‘goes up a gear’
EastEnders actor Aaron Thiara has praised his co-star as his character Ravi Gulati’s plot “goes up a gear”.
Last week, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) was accidentally caught in the crossfire during a scuffle between Ravi and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) outside the Queen Vic.
With Zoe being rushed to hospital after getting shot, Jack instructed Ravi to conceal the gun whilst he returned to Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Yolande (Angela Wynter) Trueman’s wedding celebrations.
Following Ravi’s anxious return of the firearm to Jack, the copper proceeded to plant the gun in Ravi’s home in a bid to frame his adversary.
Ravi eventually cottoned on to the scheme when he uncovered the weapon hidden beneath his bed. He subsequently declared war on Jack and informed Denise Fox (Diane Parish) that her partner was responsible for shooting Zoe, reports Plymouth Live.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday (September 12), Aaron chatted with presenter Ranvir Singh about his character Ravi’s feud with Jack.
Despite the on-screen animosity, Aaron revealed there’s nothing but respect between him and Scott behind the scenes.
“I actually love Scott. To have had a few years working with him and Diane is a real gift and that’s something I don’t take lightly. I’ve learnt so much from him,” Aaron revealed.
“He’s done this gig for so many years and been in the industry. We prepare as actors very differently, but I feel the yin and yang kind of helps.”
The actor continued by explaining that he’s discovering how to be less serious right before filming, whilst Scott maintains a “very relaxed” approach.
Elsewhere in the interview, Aaron hinted that Ravi’s plot is set to ramp “up a gear again” in the coming week.
“We’ve also just seen that he’s got caught in the spider’s web with the drug business that he’s involved in. He’s wanted to get out, so that’s gonna put more pressure on him,” he revealed.
“So, he’s gonna get a bit more desperate. But then an opportunity will present itself next week between Ravi and Jack.”
Wadey, our producer, and the story people have kind of put together with the story is the pressure that he’s got from loads of different places. He doesn’t really want to be doing it, that’s how I see it.”
He concluded: “I don’t think Ravi is [a villain]. I don’t think he wants to be doing it. He might see himself as being good at doing it, but we did see a few months ago that Bernie Taylor had taken a lot of the money. So, he needed to make money quickly. Really, Bernie’s the villain here.”
