FORMER Coronation Street actor Craig Charles is being given a second crack on I’m A Celebrity, with bosses snapping him up for a another stint in the jungle.

The Red Dwarf star, who was on the hit show in 2014, had to quit four days in after discovering his brother Dean had suffered a fatal heart attack.

But he has now signed up for the All Stars version, which is currently filming in South Africa.

A TV insider said: “So many viewers were willing for Craig to win when he appeared on the show the first time and he stood a good chance of being crowned King of the Jungle.

“But he was robbed of the experience by the family tragedy, although his campmates and the production team all understood why he wanted to leave and head home to be with his loved ones.

“So ITV has given him another go, and it’s a move which has never been done on the show before — bringing someone back who had to leave due to such circumstances.”

Craig shot to fame playing Dave Lister in BBC sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf and was cabbie Lloyd Mullaney on Coronation Street from 2005 to 2015.

He is now a DJ on BBC Radio 6 Music, where he currently has a stand-in presenter while he is in South Africa.

The show will be a reunion in more ways than one.

On the same series in 2014, Gemma Collins also quit abruptly, and will be back for this All Stars version which is due to air next year with Ant and Dec as hosts once more.

A spokesman for ITV said: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity South Africa are speculation.”

LIZ HURLEY delivers a ghostly performance as a dead heiress in game show The Inheritance, as our exclusive snap shows.

The actress sets a Teddy Bears’ Picnic challenge for contestants battling to bag a fortune left by her character in the Channel 4 competition.

And as we’ll see tonight at 9pm, it won’t be a walk in the park – with producers teasing that it “isn’t as cuddly as it looks”.

In fact, I’m told there’s a major twist that leads to an almighty row amongst the contestants.

The first episode, which dropped last week, has so far had 1.5million views with all the catch-up figures thrown in.

And all three episodes from week one were watched online at least a million times, too.

ADOLESCENCE may have been lauded at the National Television Awards this week, but modest leading man Stephen Graham still can’t get his head around his role in the show’s success.

Like most actors who just “do their thing”, he plays down his outstanding performance, telling The Awardist podcast: “Everyone keeps saying, ‘How did you do it?’ and I’m like, ‘I have no idea’.

“We just threw all these bits and bobs in a pan and went ‘wallop’ and we made this little soup.”

Stephen played dad Eddie Miller in the Netflix four-parter, which aired earlier this year. It saw him nominated in the NTAs Best Drama Performance category.

But the gong went to his co-star Owen Cooper, who played his murder accused son Jamie.

Stephen told the podcast: “The scripts were worked on in meticulous detail. It’s an unconventional drama. We treated our audience with respect, with intelligence.”

Some of the original cast of The Split might be making an appearance in a spin-off showCredit: PA
FILMING has started on the spin-off of brilliant legal drama The Split.

Cameras started rolling a few weeks ago for the BBC’s The Split Up, which shifts the action from London to Manchester.

There, in the city’s divorce law circuit, one family of lawyers – the Kishans – reign supreme.

There’s already gossip among fans that some of the original cast of The Split might be making an appearance. And they’re hoping for a cameo by Nicola Walker.

Writer Abi Morgan seemed to leave the door ajar on revisiting the original series when she unveiled The Split: Barcelona specials last December.

She said: “It’s always difficult to say goodbye to something, so it’s more like ’til next time, I guess.”

Maybe this spin-off will convince Beeb execs to bring the original back, too.

NEW dating programme Stranded On Honeymoon Island got off to a faltering start on BBC One last week, with just 517,000 tuning in for Friday night’s outing in a primetime slot.

And the show, hosted by Davina McCall, didn’t fare much better this week, with the Friday episode getting just 564,000, which is still pretty bad for a 9pm showing.
