It’s been a long while since we’ve seen General Hospital star Carolyn Hennesy’s Diane in Port Charles so when we heard that she would be

back on the screen, we knew her fans would be happy to hear it as well. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the veteran actress of the ABC soap will return on Tuesday, January 13.

 

 

For those who weren’t aware, back in October of 2025, Hennesy alerted fans to an injury on her X account and shared, “Hello all, due to unforeseen circumstances, like a broken leg, my performance at Vibrato on November 5 has been postponed. We’ll git ‘er done just not on the 5th.”

Then the following month, in November, a story was shared on the actress’ official Instagram that read, “Quick Carolyn update: First surgery went well and the second surgery is scheduled for Thursday. All thoughts and prayers are welcome.” It wasn’t long when another update hit her social, this time with a photo of the actress from the hospital letting everyone know that she’d made it through her second surgery with flying colors. And that same month, she clapped back at recast rumors and explained a bit further what her injury had been a result of.

Fans rallied around Hennesy, sending support and get well wishes, and of her first day back at the studio, the actress told the outlet how supportive her General Hospital family had been. From those in the hair and makeup department doing everything possible to make sure she was comfortable, to getting a lot of love from executive producer Frank Valentini, she shared, “Honestly, I thought it was going to be some big drama within the drama, but it went as smooth as silk.”

The last time we saw Diane, she had alerted Carly, Sonny and Michael that the evidence against Willow had been Edward’s missing gun from his collection, which had been used in Drew’s shooting. And in this week’s preview, Diane can be heard saying, “You know exactly what you have to do.”
