Emmerdale star Shebz Miah confirms secrets will unravel as Kammy’s past is revealed
Shebz Miah’s first scenes as Emmerdale’s Kammy Hadiq aired in March of this year.
He was introduced to us as a new love interest for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), who was searching for a distraction after getting dumped by Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).
Kammy and Sarah hung out, and passed the time by joyriding in cars.

It was when Sarah locked Rodney Blackstock (Patrick Mower) in a van so she could steal some items that allowed us to discover a different side to Kammy, as he made it clear that Sarah had stooped too low.
In June, fans learnt more about Kammy and what’s important to him, as he struck up as friendship with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
After spending the afternoon together, Vinny got carried away in a moment and tried to kiss Kammy.

In his panic, Vinny said that the move was just a joke, and reiterated to Kammy that he’s straight and engaged to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
In the initial aftermath, Kammy could’ve easily done nothing but pressure Vinny into telling Gabby. Typically in soaps, we’re so used to seeing a character blackmail or threaten someone with a secret.
As a result of this, Kammy’s approach took me by surprise, and left me intrigued by the character as well.
Kammy chose to support Vinny throughout his journey and keep the secret from Gabby. It was difficult in some places, but ultimately Kammy wanted to be there for his friend, who’s spent months confused and overwhelmed, unsure of the person he really is.
For Shebz Miah, Kammy’s involvement in this story was important to him, as it allowed him to highlight how loyal his character is to someone he cares a lot about.
‘There’s almost a brotherly bond between the two. Kammy is fiercely loyal to someone when he can trust them’, he told me in our latest chat.
‘I feel with Kammy and Vinny that Kammy can wholeheartedly trust Vinny and confide in him. He takes him at face value. I think Kammy takes everyone at face value. If you’re a good person to him he will reciprocate that energy. He’s an empath. I think it’s clear with Kammy when he interacts with people he is very much an empath.
‘He always tries to help a person out or he puts himself in their shoes. Obviously there’s a reason behind that and that’s something we’ll be exploring down the line’
He added: ‘But with Kammy and Vinny, because Vinny confides in Kammy, Kammy can recognise that. I think it’s hard for Kammy to also trust, but he’s found all these things in a person, in Vinny, who’s his best mate, because of that he’s fiercely loyal to him.
‘They are best mates. Obviously there was a hiccup from Vinny’s side where he did make a pass towards Kammy, but because Kammy’s taken it at face value and he understands that it might have been a moment of madness, there’s obviously an explanation behind that if you look at the bigger picture.
‘Kammy understands that Vinny’s got a partner, he’s got Gabby and he’s got a traditional lifestyle, so for him to do something like this it’s surprising but Kammy doesn’t want to make it awkward. He doesn’t think anything of it.’
Away from Vinny, what’s taken a lot of people by surprise is Kammy’s new romance with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
Her first relationship after Tom King (James Chase) was always going to come with challenges, but both Belle and Kammy are enjoying exploring their new dynamic.
‘Belle and Kammy is a bit like Kammy and Vinny. I wouldn’t say they’re worlds apart’, Shebz said.
‘The similar with their morals but a kid like Kammy wouldn’t necessarily come across someone like Belle. They have this sort of push and pull energy between them. There’s a lot of sparks when they do get together. Sparks fly, it does get interesting. It’s also quite messy as well, and very real. Belle brings out the softer side of Kammy.
