Peaky Blinders’ six seasons were met with global praise, as the British drama became a cultural hit, and with a movie as well as several new

shows on the way, the franchise gives Netflix a solid chance of competing with Paramount’s Yellowstone. Although the two universes fall

Giving fans multiple stories in the Peaky Blinders universe focusing on all kinds of characters, locations, and time frames is exactly what has made Yellowstone so popular, suggesting there should be some healthy competition between the two, and if the British crime franchise can maintain the quality of its original series, the sky is the limit for Netflix’s valuable IP.

Likewise, Cillian Murphy is a massive name who portrayed Thomas Shelby in all six seasons of Peaky Blinders and is set to renew his role in the upcoming movie, The Immortal Man. Murphy has starred in some massive projects and won a Best Actor Oscar as recently as 2024, showcasing that each franchise has notable names in their leading roles.

 

 

Both Costner and Murphy undeniably helped make their respective shows what they are today, as despite the fantastic writing and incredible casts around them, neither series would be anywhere near as memorable without their protagonists. Considering some people even believe John Dutton’s death ruined Yellowstone, it’s clear these characters are crucial to getting viewers invested and keeping them entertained.

 

 

While the Yellowstone universe has continued without John Dutton, Tommy Shelby remains alive in the Peaky Blinders universe, but his death could be on the cards when The Immortal Man premieres.

As a result, it’s hard not to see the similarities between these beloved characters despite their widely different personalities, and with both of them brought to life by legendary actors, the two roles feel very comparable.
