“Juggernaut” Western drama beloved by fans confirms cast news with iconic star of ’00s drama

Yellowstone’s upcoming spin-off, Y: Marshals, has confirmed who’s going to play a key character opposite a returning star — and it’s a face that fans of The O.C. will recognise.

The series is set to focus on Kayce Dutton, played by Yellowstone star Luke Grimes, as he joins the US Marshals in a role that calls upon “his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana”.

Also in the team is The O.C. star Logan Marshall-Green, who is set to portray a new character called Pete Calvin, Kayce’s fellow military veteran friend (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The show’s synopsis teases a difficult day-to-day for Kayce and his teammates, who “must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defence in the region’s war on violence”.

After his breakthrough as Trey Atwood in The OC, Marshall-Green went on to star in several projects, including the fifth Alien movie, Prometheus, and Netflix’s Christmas action film Carry-On.

This year, the star has joined the cast of the third season of the Sex and the City sequel spin-off, And Just Like That…, in which he plays landscape architect (and Seema Patel’s love interest) Adam Karma.

Set to debut later in the year, Y: Marshals is a follow-up to Taylor Sheridan’s “juggernaut” Yellowstone (via TV Fanatic), which wrapped with the second part of season five at the end of last year.

The new series will follow the events of the main show, which saw the Dutton ranch being sold to the Broken Rock tribe.

As part of the deal with Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), Kayce retains ownership of a small portion of the land where he could live with his family.
