EastEnders sets up Alfie Moon exit story ahead of shocking Jake return
EastEnders is preparing to wave goodbye to Alfie Moon for now, just as his estranged cousin Jake returns to the Square. Alfie and Kat Slater have been in turmoil following Zoe Slater’s arrest for the murder of Anthony Trueman after he attacked her on Christmas Day.
In fact, it was Zoe and Anthony’s daughter Jasmine Fisher who delivered the fatal blow in a bid to protect her estranged mother, despite her revenge plot against Zoe, which saw her team up with Chrissie Watts.

With the family still reeling in shock, tonight’s (5 February) episode saw Alfie receive a call from his brother Spencer, who isn’t coping well after hearing about Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall’s engagement.
Alfie confided in Kat that he is worried Spencer will “do something stupid”, and Kat urged him to fly to Australia.
He argued that he can’t just drop everything and fly halfway across the world, but Kat pointed out that people make the same journey just to “cuddle a koala”.
Alfie actor Shane Richie was starring in pantomime Dick Whittington over December and January when upcoming scenes would have been filmed, so it seems likely the character will be missing from the cobbles for a few weeks.
We do know that Alfie will still be on our screens for a little longer, however, with emotional scenes set to air when he reunites with Jake, whom he presumed was dead.
Tonight’s episode also saw Zoe call Kat from prison and explain that Jake sent her a visit request, and Kat urged Zoe to see him due to his link to Chrissie.
When Chrissie was initially released from prison, Jake headed into the sunset for her, but next week it’s set to be revealed that the couple split up due to Chrissie’s vendetta against Zoe and her heinous plot to bring her down.
Jake decides to come to the Square after Kat pleaded with him, desperate to find evidence that Zoe is innocent, and in the process comes face-to-face with Alfie.
Our EastEnders source told us: “Alfie thought that his cousin Jake was dead, so he is blown away when Kat returns home with a surprise for him, and he reunites with his long-lost relative. With some emotional scenes ahead, Jake agrees to stay the night at the pub.”
Jake eventually agrees to Kat and Alfie’s plan to lure Chrissie back to Walford and sends her a message – but will she turn up?
