‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Why the Reintroduction of Noah Newman Isn’t Working
Adams is a young, handsome actor with considerable talent, which DOOL fans know from his time on Days of Our Lives. He played Tripp Johnson. And guess what?
Tamara Braun, who now plays Sienna Bacall on Y&R, was also on Days of Our Lives and played Tripp’s mother, Ava Vitali.

Braun is also a massively talented actress, and the fact that she’s so unlikeable to viewers should be a hint to the writers to make some changes.
Part of the issue, according to many fans on social media, is that Sienna isn’t exactly a likable character. Noah also isn’t winning any brownie points with anyone.
First, let’s start with the obvious: Adams and Braun played mother and son on another soap. It’s gag-inducing for those who watch Y&R and DOOL to see two actors in this torrid Freudian situation.
Plus, Noah knowingly went after a very married woman. We’re not necessarily defending Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) here, but Noah did sleep with Matt’s wife after Matt went out of his way to befriend Noah.
Additionally, in some ways that may make more sense to fans of Roger Howarth, who is best known for his incredible portrayal of Franco Baldwin on General Hospital, Matt is somewhat more likable than these two cheaters.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Noah Is Difficult to Root for
Howarth always brings his special brand of charm, charisma, and sense of humor to every role he plays. He’s a masterful actor who elevates every scene he’s in.
It isn’t easy to root for Noah, despite the fact that he’s a legacy character. He’s the golden boy, born to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
It doesn’t get much more “legacy character” than that. Noah also comes across as a bit entitled and arrogant, which is definitely an obstacle to his rooting value.
He acts like an immature teenager with zero impulse control. Yes, Matt is a psychopath, but a much more likable and amusing psychopath at that.
Yes, Matt terrorized the Newman family for years, but Noah, Nick, and Sharon literally went looking for him. Again, this saga started when Noah provoked Matt by having an affair with his wife.
They also had zero proof that “Mitch Bacall” caused Noah’s accident, and none at all that Mitch Bacall was really Matt Clark.
The storyline was just written ridiculously. The use of history doesn’t even make up for that. While there is no justification for the terrible things Matt has done, Noah’s whole story is cringeworthy.
It’s a story written so poorly that it makes some members of the audience empathize with Matt to a certain extent.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: We Could Have Done Without the LA Story
The whole inclusion of Matt as a drug dealer selling the lethal drug Fentanyl is solely meant as a plot device to really show the viewers how evil Matt is.
Truthfully, the Fentanyl nonsense is unnecessary. We know everything evil sin that Matt has committed, and it still doesn’t make Noah any more appealing.
Being the adult son of Nick and Sharon has done absolutely nothing for Noah, either. The character’s storyline really isn’t a masterclass in good writing either.
The way he returned and was involved in a mysterious accident Matt had caused was relatively weak.
Maybe the show can have Nick wake up, and the whole LA story, the Shadow Room, Noah’s accident, and the recent return of Matt Clark can all be a bad fever dream.
The biggest injustice of the story is that they brought the insanely talented Roger Howarth to the show only to have him play a rapist, drug dealer, and murderer.
Obviously, Howarth will be leaving soon. There is no long-term future for him with the show. Again, he’s Matt Clark. Tamara Braun, Howarth, and Lucas Adams deserve better.
