Yellowstone spin-off gets thrilling filming update as fans still in the dark

The much-anticipated sequel series to Yellowstone, The Dutton Ranch, has reportedly resumed filming on its debut season.

Set to premiere in 2026 on Paramount+, the contemporary Western drama will feature Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles as Montana’s power couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

The series will continue the narrative following the death of Beth’s ranch tycoon father, John Dutton (portrayed by Kevin Costner), as they navigate more challenges while raising their adopted son, Carter (Finn Little).

Production on the series kicked off in 2025, and Collider has now confirmed that filming is back on track in Fort Worth after a winter hiatus.

They disclosed that local casting notices have verified that production on both The Dutton Ranch and Taylor Sheridan’s popular military thriller Lioness has recommenced, reports the Express.

Regrettably, fans remain uncertain about the exact premiere date of the Yellowstone spin-off after Paramount quietly moved the release date from 2025 to 2026.

It’s speculated that the series probably won’t debut until the latter part of the year, but thankfully, fans have the upcoming Marshals, led by Luke Grimes as Beth’s brother Kayce, to fill the Yellowstone-shaped void in their lives starting this March.

A synopsis for The Dutton Ranch reads: “Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch.

“With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”

The show has recently brought on board Hollywood actor Jai Courtney, who recently appeared alongside Yellowstone’s Hassie Harrison in the thriller Dangerous Animals, to play a new rancher.

High-profile stars Ed Harris and Annette Bening have also joined the cast.

Despite the extended wait for fresh episodes, 2026 is looking to be a thrilling year for Yellowstone enthusiasts as another spin-off, The Madison, is also well into filming.

It’s been recently revealed that a second season was shot before the first has even premiered, with the new show featuring Michelle Pfeiffer also targeting a release date later this year.

Hollywood legends Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams and Beau Garrett will also appear in the series about a wealthy New York family who move to the Madison River valley in central Montana.
