Cameron Mathison Talks About What His Family Lost in the California Wildfires

Uploading footage of the wreckage that was left where his Altadena home used to stand, the soap star, 56, wrote, “A year since the fire,” while showing his former home reduced to rubble.

Mathison’s property in Altadena was the place where he and his ex-wife, Vanessa Mathison, raised their two children: sonLucas, 22 and daughter Leila, 19.

Vanessa was among those who commented on the actor’s Instagram post on Wednesday, writing, “I will be forever grieving this loss💔” under the video.

In the wake of so much tragedy, Mathison’s family found a silver lining when they were able to salvage one extremely sentimental item from the fires: a tile sign that read the name of their family home, “Casa Lula.”

“We did a lot of renovations on this place it was like a passion project, and once we finished all that, we had this beautiful tile thing with the little name on the front,” he said during a Good Morning America appearance last year, noting that the name “Casa Lula” comes from a combination of both of his kids’ names.

The sign was miraculously recovered in the ash left by the fires, and even though it had a few cracks in it, the All My Children alum said his family planned to put it back together and “make an art piece out of it.”

“Just as a memento to remember, but also to be able to move forward to the next phase, the next chapter,” he said at the time.

The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond is looking ahead to the rest of 2026 and plans to slow things down this year, while also keeping things “groovy.”

Drummond took to Instagram on Sunday (January 4) to share a series of photos with one of her horses, snapped last fall during sunset at her Pawhuska, Oklahoma, ranch. “A great memory from last fall, and it represents three of my many resolutions for 2026,” she captioned the post.

The celebrity chef then revealed those resolutions as “slow down, make the moment last, feel groovy.”

It’s clear why Drummond wants to slow things down and cherish every moment as her granddaughter, Sofia, the daughter of Alex Drummond Scott and her husband, Mauricio Scott, is already one year old! Last month, Sofia not only celebrated her first Christmas but also her first birthday, showing how quickly time passes.
