Taylor Sheridan’s Best Yellowstone Series Is Great For $8 Billion Franchise
James Gunn’s DCU is shaping up to be quite the franchise, with positive reception to Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker
season 2, also making it three projects for the franchise. One of the biggest roles yet to be cast for the DCU is that of Bruce Wayne in The
Brave and the Bold Batman movie. However, the Yellowstone franchise might have that covered.

While the main Yellowstone series tends to be the most popular of the franchise for a good reason, the prequel spinoff 1923 holds the best Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of the bunch, with 94%. I agree with that, as 1923 is the most exciting Yellowstone series to me, and its cast is second to none in the franchise.
With Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and more, 1923’s cast ensures that the show remains must-watch TV from start to finish. Besides the two Hollywood veterans, Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton is the other main reason 1923 is a success. Sklenar infuses the role with a magnetic energy that makes Spencer charming, mysterious, and a true action hero with a quiet attitude.

The brooding role has led to Sklenar becoming one of the most popular candidates among DC fans to play the Batman of James Gunn’s DC Universe. In a lot of ways, Spencer is the ideal showcase for how Sklenar is perfect for Batman in DC’s future movies. The actor makes the hero compassionate and affectionate while still serious and stoic.
With the DCU version of Batman leading a Bat-Family in the franchise, Sklenar would be able to make Batman dark and scary to his enemies while a warm mentor and father to young heroes. Adding to his chances of playing Batman, the Yellowstone franchise star has made clear time and again that he wants to be the DCU Bruce Wayne.
It sure helps his chances that James Gunn is well aware of Sklenar’s talents. On Threads, Gunn responded to a fan asking if he liked Sklenar’s Spencer Dutton in 1923, saying, “Yes. That show was great.” With Sklenar only three years older than Superman actor David Corenswet, the Yellowstone franchise star would fit in with Gunn’s previous Batman comments.
While not giving a specific age for the DCU Batman, Gunn said that Bruce Wayne could be a few years older than Clark Kent in the DCU. At 35, Sklenar would be at the right age to play Batman for a decade or more and be believable as the leader of a whole Bat-Family. After watching 1923, I hope he plays Batman.
Batman lies in the best series in the Yellowstone franchise so far. It is no secret that Taylor Sheridan has turned into one of the most popular creators when it comes to TV shows. The Yellowstone franchise currently includes three finished series, with many new projects in different stages of development.
