Sylvester Stallone’s Crime Drama Is Still Missing Taylor Sheridan’s Secret Weapon
Taylor Sheridan’s Southern crime series, Tulsa King, lacks a key element of the Yellowstone co-creator’s other series, missing one of his
most utilized actors. The show wrapped its third season in November, with New York mafia capo-turned-Tulsa crime king, Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), defeating another rival. However, some fans thought the closing episode lacked the emotional depth of past installments.

Tulsa King Season 3 was under new leadership, with Dave Erickson at the helm as its showrunner, replacing Terrance Winter, who will be back as head writer and executive producer for Tulsa King Season 4 after Paramount+ renewed Stallone’s drama for another season. Winter can return the series to its former glory, as could a few more familiar faces.
Tulsa King has fewer overlapping actors from other Taylor Sheridan shows, and its cast lacks a recurring fan favorite, James Jordan. The actor has appeared in several of Sheridan’s projects, including his films Wind River (2017), in which he played Pete Mickens, and Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021) alongside Angela Jolie and fellow Yellowstone actor Finn Little.
Though he has appeared in other popular TV series, like Veronica Mars and True Blood, Jordan’s work with Sheridan is his best-known. He portrays memorable characters in Yellowstone and its first spinoff, 1883, playing a loose canon in both series. In Yellowstone, Jordan plays Livestock Agent Steve Hendon, and in 1883, he plays a chuck wagon chef named Cookie.
