Sydney Sweeney’s New Thriller With a ‘Yellowstone’ Breakout Star Scores Big on Rotten Tomatoes
Sydney Sweeney first broke out thanks to her roles in HBO originals like Euphoria and The White Lotus, but now she’s due to start a new
twisty thriller that just got an exciting update. Sweeney stars alongside 1923 veteran Brandon Sklenar and Amanda Seyfried in The
Housemaid, which is based on the book of the same name by Freida McFadden. The Housemaid is scheduled to premiere exclusively in

theaters this Friday, but the review embargo for the film lifted yesterday, and it’s now earned enough scores to be given a rating on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, from 53 reviews, The Housemaid currently sits at a 77% score from critics on the aggregate site.
While this is subject to change, 53 reviews as a large enough sample size that it likely won’t move too far in either direction. Still, if the 77% holds, it will earn the Certified Fresh label, and it’s also Sweeney’s highest-rated movie since 2022. She starred in some critically panned projects that also bombed at the box office over the last few years, such as Madame Web and Eden. The Housemaid has already broken Sweeney’s of poorly reviewed projects from critics, but only time will tell how the film fares at the box office.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Brendan Sklenar will lead Taylor Sheridan’s return to filmmaking in his new action thriller, F.A.S.T. Other names, such as LaKeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, and Sam Claflin, have also joined the cast of the film, which is due in theaters on April 23, 2027. The action thriller is already being called Taylor Sheridan’s Sicario replacement, which likely comes as a result of the reported drug crime aspect of the plot. Sheridan made his feature writing debut in 2015 on Sicario, and it’s still hailed to this day as one of his best projects. Fans are expecting him to recapture the magic in F.A.S.T. when it arrives in theaters in 2027.
