Coronation Street legend ‘confirmed’ not to die in Corriedale as he signs new contract
Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has reportedly signed another contract to stay on the show for another year, which suggests he won’t die in the upcoming Corriedale crossover.
Jack P Shepherd has played the role of David Platt since 2000. He is the son of Gail Platt (Helen Worth), and dad to children Max (Paddy Bever) and Lily (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner).
David has been through an awful lot while living in Weatherfield, and the drama isn’t going to stop when 2026 begins, as he will play a huge part in the Coronation Street and Emmerdale mash-up episode Corriedale.
With a number of residents from both neighbourhoods getting caught up in a multi-vehicle pile up, not everyone will make it out of this ordeal alive.

As reported in The Sun, Jack has signed another contract to stay on the show, which means he will play David for at least another year, taking us well past the date of Corriedale.
Metro has contacted Coronation Street for a comment.
Jack took a break from his role as David earlier this year to star in Celebrity Big Brother. The actor, who is 37, went on to win the series.
In Corrie, David and wife Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) were told recently that their unborn baby has a tumour.
The couple then discovered that the only surgery that could help the baby may put Shona’s life at risk.

While David has been plagued with doubts over their decision not to terminate the pregnancy, Shona refuses to acknowledge the risks of surgery and is determined to carry to term.
This led to her decision to keep their family and friends in the dark about the tumour. But David just couldn’t bury his head in the sand, and ended up letting the cat out of the bag under pressure.
