SHOCK DEATH: Home and Away Star Dieter Brummer Found Dead at 45

Australian fans and the international soap community were deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of former Home and Away actor Dieter Brummer in July 2021. Brummer, who was adored by a generation of fans for his role as Shane Parrish, was found dead at his home in Sydney at the age of 45.

New South Wales police confirmed that they responded to a concern for welfare at a home in Glenhaven, where the actor’s body was located. His death was not treated as suspicious, and a report was prepared for the coroner.

Brummer was a 90s heartthrob, best known for his award-winning portrayal of Shane Parrish on Home and Away from 1992 to 1996. His on-screen romance and eventual wedding to Melissa George’s character, Angel Brooks, made them one of the most beloved couples in the show’s history.

The Brummer family released a heartfelt statement at the time, paying tribute to the actor: “We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning. He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same.”

Following the news, the Seven Network, which airs Home and Away, released a statement expressing their condolences: “Dieter was a much-loved Home and Away cast member and celebrated by Australian and international audiences for his award-winning portrayal of Shane Parrish. We send our sincere condolences to Dieter’s family and friends during this very difficult time.”

Brummer had stepped away from the limelight for a time after leaving the popular soap, later returning to television with roles in shows like Underbelly and rival soap Neighbours. At the time of his passing, he was running a high-rise window cleaning business.
