Emmerdale fans in disbelief as they discover Rodney Blackstock star’s real age
Emmerdale fans have been left in disbelief after learning Rodney Blackstock star Patrick Mower’s real age.
Taking to social media on Friday, 12 September, many soap watchers were quick to celebrate the actor’s birthday, leaving viewers speechless at his age-defying looks.
One soap fan wrote on Facebook: “happy 87th birthday wishes to Patrick mower have a fantastic day.” Many were quick to respond to the post, sharing their disbelief at Patrick being 87-years-old.
One person said: “Give over 87!!!!!! He looks amazing for that age!!!! Happy birthday”, a different account put: “Happy birthday you don’t look a day old”, another commented: “Looks good on it … Happy Birthday Patrick” while a different fan added: “He looks amazing for his age.”
It’s not just soap fans who think Patrick is younger as the actor himself thought himself to be younger having believed for years that he was in fact born in 1940.
In his 2007 autobiography, Patrick said he believed for years that his year of birth was 1940, but later he discovered that his birth was not registered and he was born on September 12 in 1938.
Patrick, who is turning 87 today (Friday 12 September), has been a staple on Emmerdale as Rodney Blackstock since 2000, he will celebrate 25 years in the village next month.
Rodney has had many marriages and explosive storylines on the ITV soap, including Diane Sugden and Maureen Blackstock. His soap children include Bernice Blackstock, Paul Lambert and Nicola King.
Away from Emmerdale, Patrick is known for his roles in the likes of Target, Marco Polo, Whodunnit? and Special Branch – to name a few.
Despite Rodney being the village’s local casanova, in real life Patrick has been married to wife Anya Pope since 1996 and they have son Maxim. She is almost 30 years his junior but Patrick has never considered this age gap to be a problem.
He previously said: “Maxim and Anya are my life, I keep fit with exercise, swimming, golf and tennis so I don’t see age as a problem.”
Anya is Patrick’s second wife, he was previously married to Audrey Giles and they have two children, Simon and Claudia.
Back in 1998, Patrick opened up to Bucks Free Press about becoming a dad again in later life.
