A modern-day “Hitchcock style” film, described as an “insidious adrenaline rush”, is now available for viewing.
The psychological thriller Drop centres on a widowed mother, Violet (portrayed by Meghann Fahy), who embarks on a date with Henry (Brandon Sklenar) at a posh restaurant.
However, the evening takes a terrifying turn when Violet begins receiving messages from a shadowy hooded figure threatening to kill her son and sister unless she murders Henry.
Will Violet and Henry uncover the truth before it’s too late, or will she be forced to kill her date?
Drop, which hit cinemas earlier this year, can now be watched on Sky Cinema and streamed on NOW.
At the heart of Drop is actress Meghann Fahy, best known for her role as Sutton Brady in the five-season drama The Bold Type.
After the series concluded in 2021, Fahy quickly landed the role of Daphne Sullivan in the second series of The White Lotus.
She has also appeared in the film Rebuilding, as well as Sirens and The Perfect Couple on Netflix.
Fahy shares the screen with Brandon Sklenar, who plays Henry and is renowned for his role as Spencer Dutton in the Yellowstone spin-off 1923.
His other notable roles include appearances in Westworld, The Offer and the romantic drama It Ends With Us, alongside Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
With a solid 83% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, one fan dubbed Drop a “nerve-wracking survival thriller”.
“It’s a great thriller that puts a traumatised woman between a rock and a hard place, a sky-high trap that she can’t hope to escape,” one viewer penned.
Another chimed in: “Drop is an insidious adrenaline rush and thrilling whodunit is exhilarating from start to finish”, while a third praised it as a “brilliant” set up with a “fantastic pay-off”.
One fan advised others to “drop into this thriller for Hitchcock-ian suspense”, while another described it as: “Drop is a dark date-night rollercoaster that lands somewhere between a tech-age horror thriller and a rom-com from hell, with surprisingly emotional results.”
