the Yellowstone spinoff series, Y: Marshals. The network has now updated their schedules for the spring season, revealing that the first

season of the latest Yellowstone expansion centered on Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton has locked in a premiere date of 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Returning Yellowstone cast members joining Grimes include Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), Mo Brings Plenty (Mo), and Brecken Merrill (Tate), alongside newcomers Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Logan Marshall-Green. The short synopsis reads, “Former U.S. Navy SEAL and rancher Kayce Dutton joins a specialized group of U.S. Marshals charged with protecting Montana.”

Yellowstone' Sets Premiere Date for Final Season & Confirms Two New Spinoffs

Y: Marshals is a series that is almost guaranteed to draw a huge audience to its debut as an offshoot of Yellowstone. Across its five seasons, Yellowstone had a rocky ride from Season 1’s 58% Rotten Tomatoes score, to the high of 100% by Season 3, and then a dip to 79% in its divisive final season. However, that hasn’t stopped Sheridan continuing to expand the franchise into new territory, and Y: Marshals is just one of several new branches of the Dutton family’s future.

Every Upcoming Yellowstone Project From Taylor Sheridan

Yellowstone is a show that arrived at a time when many audiences were pushing back on “woke” television, and Sheridan’s drama of ranch rivalries with a strong nostalgic callback to classic Western sensibilities hit a sweet spot on streaming.

Although Sheridan has delivered other shows, such as Tulsa King, with Sylvester Stallone as a veteran mafia boss looking to reclaim his past glory, and Lioness, his action war series starring Avatar’s Zoe Saldana, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman among others, Yellowstone is still the heart of Sheridan’s output. Along with prequels 1888 and 1923, the saga has a direct sequel coming in the Beth and Rip series currently just known as “Dutton Ranch,” while The Madison, starring Michelle Pfieffer, another prequel in 1944, and several other projects are also in various stages of development. Naturally, Sheridan cannot produce these shows on his own, and while he oversees them as EP, writing and directing duties will be taken on by others – something that has had mixed reactions in some of his recent releases.

Y: Marshals seems to be a series that will have the least input from Sheridan outside his executive producer role. How that impacts the series will be seen very quickly in March 2026, when fans will no doubt make their feelings about where the network show sits in the Yellowstone pantheon.
